 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are pitting and/or fissures in granite normal?
Yes. Granite is crystalline and often contains tiny voids (pits) and natural fissures—especially in darker or more dramatic slabs. These are normal and usually stabilized during fabrication.
  • What do I need to do before the measure/template visit?
Clear countertops so we can accurately capture edges and fixtures.
  • Who will reconnect my appliances and plumbing?
Your countertop installer typically makes cut‑outs and seals surfaces, but licensed tradespeople—like electricians and plumbers—should reconnect your appliances, sink, and gas lines.
  • What is Granite?
Granite is a natural stone composed of quartz, mica, feldspar, and other minerals. It’s durable, heat-resistant, and ideal for countertops and heavy-use surfaces.
  • How do I care for my stone countertops?
Wipe daily with mild soap and warm water; avoid vinegar or bleach. Use coasters and cutting boards to prevent scratches and stains. Reseal stone surfaces as needed (we can recommend a schedule). Clean up spills promptly, especially oil or acidic liquids.
  • Can you fabricate and install stone for other areas—like vanities or fireplaces?
Absolutely! We cut stone for bathrooms, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, tabletops, and more—virtually any interior or exterior surface.
  • How long will it take to get my countertops after template?
Turnaround varies depending on stone availability, fabrication schedule, and complexity—it typically takes 1–3 weeks from templating to installation, but we’ll confirm your expected timeline at the start.
  • Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship and follow industry standards, including seam placement, level installation, fit around fixtures, fabrication quality, and stone sealing.
  • What’s the difference between quartz and granite?
Granite is a natural stone, each slab totally unique, and highly heat-resistant. Quartz is engineered with natural stone and resin—offering consistency in pattern, lower maintenance, and no sealing required. The right choice depends on your design needs and lifestyle.
  • Can I see the slab before you cut it?
Yes! We encourage clients to view their selected stone in person whenever possible. We can arrange for you to visit a local supplier or yard to approve the slab before we begin fabrication.
  • How do I know if I need a seam?
Seam placement depends on the size of your countertop, access to the installation site, and stone slab dimensions. We do our best to minimize seams and place them in low-visibility areas. Our team ensures all seams are tight and polished for a smooth, clean finish.
  • Will my countertops need to be resealed?
Natural stone (like granite or marble) usually needs to be sealed once a year, depending on use. We’ll let you know the recommended schedule for your specific material. Quartz does not require sealing.
